A holy trip to hell

Few minutes of sleep lost to wakefulness
As day arrived earlier than expected
Oh! Why are the daily ablutions a necessity?
A necessity in this civilized society
Half a cup of weak black coffee cleared no fogs
Unclear mind turned its thoughts to Gods
Rushed the car through empty morning roads
Temple doors stood ajar welcoming the infrequent devotee
As gods smiled from their lighted chambers
Nodding their heads in humble acceptance of prayers
Pangs of hungers struck as I circumambulated
Fire in the belly doused by ghee soaked prasadam
Eyes brighter than the sun shining into it
Looked back with some remnant piety
Devotion had not subsided, where can more Gods be found

Day had furthered a little
People, outdoored a lot more
Crawled the car through busy morning roads
Felt god's smile shining as an empty parking slot appeared
Strolled through crowded streets
Jostled through people seeking holiness
Gods at distance waved us to wait our turn in winding lines
Inching forward to reach the dark abodes of Gods
Thoughts of lunch struck my head and stomach
Darkness enveloped and "Aha! Thats it" said a thought
Folded hands requested happiness and ruin for all who did not agree
Inching back, time seemed to move slower
Decision made, getting to action seemed important
Crawled along slower as more and more basked in the sun
Can a few minutes really be a few hours
But the destination was in front and I was salivating
Clear thought and clear choice ensured an early arrival of food
With fork and knife in hand I attacked
The breaded Wiener Schnitzel did not fancy a chance at surviving
